Prosper
Advanced multiphase well and pipeline modelling for nodal analysis
PROSPER is Petex’s well and pipeline modelling application, designed for nodal analysis across oil, gas, and condensate systems. By integrating inflow, outflow, and thermodynamic modelling in a single platform, it enables engineers to design, analyse, and optimise well performance efficiently. Used across fields worldwide, PROSPER supports both planning and operational workflows with validated models and an intuitive, task-focused interface.
Well Completions Design
Continuously developed since the early 1990s, the software is regularly enhanced with new models and capabilities to stay at the forefront of the industry. It supports a wide range of well and pipeline scenarios through an adaptive interface that simplifies inputs to only what is needed for each task, delivering deep technical capability without unnecessary complexity and enabling efficient use in real-time workflows across global operations.
Outflow (VLPs) Model
Includes proprietary multiphase pressure drop models developed through long-term research to overcome limitations in traditional industry standards. The system is validated against extensive global field data to ensure consistent, reliable performance across assets, and is designed to work alongside standard correlations or integrate seamlessly with third-party tools such as OLGA and LEDAFLOW.
Inflow (IPRs) Model
Provides over 20 specialised inflow models for vertical, horizontal, deviated, multilayer, and multilateral well geometries, capturing complex reservoir and fluid behaviour including changing PVT conditions and multi-zone production. It also supports detailed analysis of skin effects, re-perforation strategies, and completion design for high-fidelity sensitivity studies.
Multilateral Completions
Alongside the analytically derived Inflow Performance Relationships, the Multi-Lateral IPR model represents the culmination of extensive research, designed specifically for complex well completions with undulating trajectories across multiple producing zones. This is the most advanced analytical IPR that exists in the industry today and can only be found in PROSPER as another one of the many unique features in the program.
Inflow/Outflow Response
Combines inflow and outflow models for full nodal analysis.Supports production and injection scenarios across oil, gas and condensate wells, with or without artificial lift. Sensitivity and matching tools enable comparison with measured field data.
Thermal Modelling
Models wellbore thermal behaviour from simple approximations through to full energy balance calculations. It accounts for convection, conduction, and radiation, supported by a materials database. Hybrid methods also capture effects such as Joule–Thomson behaviour while maintaining computational efficiency.
Flow Assurance
Supports both hydraulic and thermodynamic analysis.
Covers flow regimes, erosional velocity, liquid loading and slug handling.
Includes hydrate formation, wax and salt precipitation, with options to assess mitigation and operating conditions.
Fully Compositional
Supports both black oil and fully compositional approaches, enabling hydrate prediction, salt deposition, and CO₂ phase behaviour modelling. It includes a wide range of correlations, with specialised methods for heavy oil and emulsions.
Artificial Lift Systems
Models a broad range of lift methods including gas lift, ESPs, HSPs, PCPs, jet pumps, and rod pumps. It supports both design and troubleshooting through equipment databases and QuickLook diagnostics, and includes a transient gas lift simulator for unloading and stability analysis. It also integrates with full-field network models and digital workflows.
Perforation Design and Performance
Includes the SPOT perforation optimisation tool contributed by Shell, enabling comparison of perforation strategies using rock, fluid, and charge properties. Outputs integrate directly with well performance modelling.
Steam Wells
Supports modelling of steam injection wells, including SAGD and cyclic steam processes, and generates lift curves for network models to analyse distribution, operating limits, and energy performance.
