AAPG 2013

Midland Valley will be attending the AAPG annual convention in Pittsburgh next week (19-22 May) with a new exhibition stand (BOOTH#1710) and will be demonstrating the recently released Move 2013 software.

We will also be debuting and launching our new Apple iOS and Google Android FieldMove Apps as a new addition to our Move software range.

Move 2013 Maintenance Update: Available Now

Midland Valley are pleased to announce that as part of the maintained client update system, version 2013.1.1 of Move is now available for download from the client section of the Midland Valley website.
This is not a full release and will only update specific parts of Move 2013.1, addressing reported bugs, and providing improvements to functionality and stability.

2012 Student Structure Prize Winners Announced

Midland Valley's 2012 Student Structure Prize again attracted entries from around the world, reflecting the wide range of projects being tackled by students not just at Phd level but as undergraduate projects. Many of the entries were publication level of presentation as well as technical content showing significant maturity for young geoscientists while still studying as students at the start of their careers.

Move 2013 Released: Available Now

The latest version of Move Structural Modelling and Analysis Software has been released and is available for download from the ‘Client’ section of our website to maintained clients.

Software development has focussed on forward modelling functionality in the 2D Kinematic Modelling module and 3D model building and construction tools, previously found in 3DMove, inside Move Core Application.

Geothermal Modelling using Move

During the second half of 2012 Midland Valley became involved in the Eastgate Geothermal Borehole Project which is designed to produce geothermal energy for a “renewable energy village”. 

We have been providing support to University of Strathclyde PhD Student, Stewart Beattie, who has been using Move to help predict the position and geometry of a productive geothermal source within a granite pluton at Eastgate.  Also involved in the project are Stewart’s supervisor, Professor Zoe Shipton, and Cluff Geothermal.
