Royal Holloway University of London
Royal Holloway University of London was one of the first Universites to join our Academic Software Initiative (ASI), coming on board in April 2009 and has been using their academic licenses in teaching and MSc and PhD research projects.
Royal Holloway University is also a Research Partner who we have worked with for over five years to develop our Sediment Modelling module.
Last year (2010) the Move suite of software was used in:
- Sections construction & restoration in fold belts, Zagros Fold Belt, Iran (PhD project)
- Tectonic Evolution of the Kohat Plateau, NW Pakistan (PhD project)
- Structural Evolution of Dohuk Area, Zagros Mountains, Iraqi Kurdistan (PhD project)
- Tectonostratigraphic Evolution of Faeroe-Shetland Basin (PhD project)
- Tectono-stratigraphic Evolution of the South-Eastern Mediterranean Margin Offshore Egypt and Libya (PhD project)
- 4D Evolution of Deepwater Fold Belts – Offshore Niger Delta (PhD Project)
In their first year as members the University mainly used the Move - 2DMove workflow, importing DEMs, georeferenced geological maps and SEGY files in Move. From these sources, sections are constructed and restored in 2DMove.
- Sections construction & restoration in gravity-driven linked systems, off shore Namibia. (Post Doc project)
- Sections construction & restoration in fold belts, Zagros Fold Belt, Iran (PhD project)
- Sections construction & restoration in fold belts, Kohat Plateau, NW Pakistan (PhD project)
- Sections construction & restoration in extensional systems, NW Shelf Australia ( MSc project).
- Tectonics MSc/PhD student training course on section balancing and reconstruction
