Roland Baumberger, Project Manager 3D Geology Swiss Geological Survey
Roland obtained his BSc and MSc from the University of Bern, Switzerland. His masters thesis looked at Reactivated Shear Zones and their role as water conducting features - 3D modeling of shear zones at the Grimsel Test Site (underground rock laboratory).
He is currently Project Manager for 3D geology for the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo.

Brett Davies, Principal and Consulting Geolgist Renaissance Geology
Brett Davies is an independent consultant specialising in structural geology of ore deposits. Brett has a broad international experience in applied structural geology at deposit to regional scales. He has a particular interest in ensuring effective structural analysis and the proper application and integration of such analyses in the evaluation of mineral systems and deposits.

Claudia Guargena, Team Leader Licences Aker Exploration
Claudia started her career as a Geologist in exploration and development for Exxon (UK and Norway) working in various projects in the North Sea and Norwegian Continental Shelf. She then moved to Enterprise Oil where she spent 15 years in various roles from Licence Applications and Knowledge Management. Claudia has also worked for Shell, Norway and is now at Aker Exploration - an independent operator on the Norwegian Shelf where she is responsible for licences and licence round applications.

Sean Kelly, Lead Geologist Maersk Oil
Sean Kelly is a geologist (PhD University College Cork) with 19 years international industry experience. Presently Sean is Lead Geologist, Corporate Technology & Innovation at Maersk Oil, Denmark. Previous positions include Chief Production Geologist at DONG Energy, Denmark (2006 – 2008); Lead Geologist, Harweel EOR Team at PDO, Oman (2004-2006); Senior Production Geologist at Shell Exploration and Production U.K. Ltd (1997–2003); Consultant Sedimentologist – UK, Netherlands and Germany (1990-1996). Main interests include reservoir characterisation, integrated reservoir modelling and new technology development/application.

Alan Roberts, Managing Director Badleys Geoscience
Alan began his career as a structural geologist at Liverpool University, studying for his PhD (completed in 1984) on the structure of the northern Scottish Highlands. In 1984 he moved from Liverpool to Britoil in Glasgow to begin work as an exploration/production geologist. In 1986 Alan joined Badleys, with Mike Badley at the helm and is now Managing Director.
In recent years, Alan has been heavily involved in research into the structure of contintental margins. He was Principal Investigator on the iSIMM project and is currently working with Nick Kusznir (University of Liverpool) on the successor project MM2 (Modelling of Margins Phase 2). MM2 is funded by an industry consortium. Alan is also a member of the UK IODP Industrial Liaison Panel.

Simon Stewart, BP Professor of Petroleum Geoscience BP/Heriot Watt University
Professor Stewart graduated in Geology from Dundee in 1989 and obtained his PhD in Structural Geology from Imperial College in 1992. He worked for eight years with Amerada before joining BP in 2000, working in Baku, Azerbaijan, as Senior Geophysicist and most recently as New Well Delivery Team Leader. He has experience in 4D seismic data interpretation, geomechanics, well planning and exploration.
He has published over 40 papers on a range of geoscientific issues, from impact craters to nuclear waste disposal, and is an Honorary Professor at Durham University.

John Wheeler, Professor of Geology University of Liverpool
After completing his PhD on "Physical and Chemical Processes in Ductile Shear Zones" in 1986 at Leeds University, John joined Midland Valley as a Geolgist and Computer programmer and created the first commercial version of the balanced cross-section application which was eventually known as 2DMove.
John left Midland Valley to return to academia, moving to the University of Liverpool in 1988 where he has enjoyed posts of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader and, currently, Professor of Geology.
