ReSt - Restoration Standards for Geological Models |
Restoration Standards for Geological Models (ReSt) is a resource which provides licensees with numerically fast and proofed restoration workflow solutions that can be used to link structural interpretation with basin and reservoir modeling studies. ReSt uses analogue sandbox experiments where the kinematics of the structural evolution is known as templates. The deformation stages are documented by a construction of successive 3D digital models. The final geometry of the model is used as input to the restoration algorithms and workflows, allowing the differences between the analogue model and the numerical results to be compared and analyzed directly. An atlas of structural styles chosen to meet the objectives of the members of the steering committee will be the source of the ReSt digital models. The direct comparison of static and dynamic features to be numerically modeled will provide a calibration standard to assess appropriate techniques & to quantify uncertainty in the modeling process. ReSt will be delivered to licensees on CD ROM as a hyperlinked digital resource, suitable for distribution through in-house knowledge networks. In addition, annual updates will provide an invaluable mentoring and training course on structural interpretation for users of MVE latest software products.
