Options for Licensing

Node Locked License

A Node Locked license file (local license) is suited to stand alone machines and single license agreements. A Node Locked license only needs the installation of a license file; no additional software is required. Any number of copies of the software can be run on the machine.

Floating Network License

A floating network license requires the installation of a separate license server package, either MVEflexlm8.4 or MVE License Manager depending on which platform you are using. The license manager package may be installed on a different computer to that which you run Midland Valley applications on. It is also possible to install the license manager on a different platform.

For example: The Windows version of 2DMove4 can be licensed from a Windows NT/2000/XP Server or a UNIX server.

The UNIX versions of 2DMove4 can be licensed from a Windows NT/2000/XP Server or a UNIX server.

A Floating Network License allows you to run Midland Valley applications on any machine on your network that you install the software on. Only the number of copies that you are licensed for can be run at any one time.

Note: Floating Network Licenses are for site use on single site LANs. Licenses for use between sites i.e. on WANs, carry an additional cost, for more details please contact your Midland Valley sales representative, or if you don't have one.
