Mineral Exploration and Resource Development

In the mining sector we are actively involved in structural studies for greenfield and near-mine exploration, open pit stability and rock properties in deep mines. Our Move suite of software is a powerful tool for model building and validation, particularly in areas of sparse data where there is considerable uncertainty. We can import a wide variety of surface and sub-surface data types (geological and geophysical) into the software, including drillhole data, surface geology maps and geological measurements, digital elevation models, GIS shape files, cross-sections, seismic data, satellite data, grav/mag data etc. We also have close links with industry standard mine modelling packages (e.g. Vulcan, MineSight) which enables the user to rapidly transfer data and models to Move for data conditioning, validation and kinematic modelling.
Kinematic modelling yields cross-sections and 3d models that are geometrically and geologically valid, reducing uncertainty and leading to increased ore body knowledge, improved accuracy of reserve estimation and definition of new targets in the mine and near-mine area. With an understanding of the structural history, the geological model can be restored back in time, and then forward modelled to capture attributes including strain and curvature. These attributes can then be used as inputs for fracture modelling in Move.
