General questions applicable to our software products
- Is Midland Valley’s software compatible with Microsoft Vista?
Yes. All of our software products from 2DMove5.0, 3DMove5.0 and 4DMove1.0 onwards have been developed and tested on Windows Vista. The software has been successfully tested using the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista Ultimate.
- How can I load shapefiles and DEMs?
Shapefiles can be loaded into the 4DMove, as can DEMs. Shapefiles and DEMs can subsequently be saved as *.mve files and loaded into 3DMove. The geometry of shapefiles with point and line data can also be added into 2DMove. 4DMove has the capability of extracting the topography and any associated intersections along a section line. This topography can then be used in 2DMove. Further details are available to maintained clients in the Secure Section.
- Can I load Lidar data?
Yes, Lidar data can be loaded into 3DMove or 4DMove provided the data is in a suitable format. 4DMove has the additional ability to load colour if RGB values are in the file.
- What are Format Files and how can I use them?
Format files are text files that contain the information required by a program to either interpret the data within an ASCII data file or produce a particular format of ASCII output. Each line in the format file consists of a keyword(s) which defines the data type and the start and end columns of the data within the file. Format files can be used to export data from other programs before importing the information into either 2DMove or 3DMove. 2DMove comes supplied with a format file designed specifically for transferring well information from Landmark to 2DMove.
