Helen Paget - Director
Helen joined Midland Valley in March 1997 after graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics for Business Analysis. She has worked her way through various roles in Midland Valley to now taking overall responsibility for finance, administration, all aspects of systems and IT support.
Through her time she has gained great insight into how the administration and system work both within Midland Valley and in the wide variety of organisations we deal with. This experience allows her to direct and develop strategies for our way forward enabling our core business to run as smoothly as possible.
Helen has also completed an MBA focusing on the affects of teleworking on organisational culture.

Barbara Brown (Wiseman) - Systems Administrator
Barbara joined Midland Valley in 2009 after 20 years at the University of Glasgow where she worked with the Dept of Computing Science as a systems specialist. She has a broad range of skills covering Unix, Windows and MacOS operating systems and experience of supporting complex heterogeneous systems and users. Within Midland Valley she is responsible for maintaining and developing the company IT resources and infrastructure.
When not busy with work Barbara enjoys spending time on the water, sailing, windsurfing or providing rescue cover, as well as spending time with her family and maintaining a busy local community website.

Donna Shaw - Finance and Administration
A valuable member of Midland Valley since joining in December 2004. Donna looks after our office and Administration including accounts, software maintenance and license agreements.

Fiona Hunter MSc - Technical Author
Fiona graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a BSc (Hons) Geosciences and, after a little bit of travelling, went on to attain an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Fiona joined us in October 2008 after working for 5 years in the civil engineering / environmental consultancy industry where she was a Geo-Environmental Engineer involved mainly in Brownfield redevelopment. With a keen interest in petroleum and mining /ore geology and IT, the role of Geological Technical Author is an ideal mix of the two subjects and she is now looking forward to developing her knowledge of the Move software packages and working in a geological environment.
In her spare time Fiona enjoys badminton, travelling, golfing and escaping to the countryside. |

Gael Anderson - Contracts: Commercial and Academic
Gael joined Midland Valley to provide maternity cover for Helen and was responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the finance and administration function of the office in her absence.
She has a Business Studies degree from Massey University (NZ) and extensive office management experience primarily in Planning, Regeneration and Property consultancies.
Since helen's return Gael has been kept on in the office, managing our Academic Software Initiative (ASI).
When not at work Gael enjoys travelling, hill walking, running, rocking out to a good tune and is partial to the occasional pint of Guinness.

Joanne Smith - Senior IT Support
Jo joined Midland Valley in December 2004 after moving over from New Zealand. She has a Bachelor of Science in Information Science from Otago University and a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Marketing from Victoria Univeristy. Jo has a diverse background in IT Technical and client support with over 10 years experience in different organisations.
Currently Jo enjoys client contact alongside the technical system support at Midland Valley. Her role is to manage the software distribution and licensing of the Move software as well as the internal desktop infrastructure. She is also involved in designing, maintaining, and developing the overall company IT infrastructure and new IT projects.
