Student Structural Prize Winners

The 2007 winning entries in our Student Structural Prize have been chosen by our Director Dr Alan Gibbs.

As always, the submissions were of an extremely high standard and all entrants are congratulated for their hard-work and ideas.

Post-Graduate

1st Prize:  Herman Boro, Vrije University
 Fracture Analysis and Mechanical Stratigraphy of Devonian Rich Fm, Anti Atlas - Morocco
  
2nd Prize:Steven Smith, University of Durham
 Signatures of the seismic cycle along anciant faults: CO2-induced fluidization of brittle cataclasites in the footwall of a sealing low-angle normal fault.

Under-Graduate

1st Prize: Oliver Duffy, University of Manchester                                               
 

The Carboneras Fault, SE Spain

(as part of an independent mapping investigation into the geological, tectonic and structural formation history of the Eastern Carboneras region of the Almerian province of South Eastern Spain).

  
2nd Prize:Amy Brennan, Keele University 
 Structural and Geomorphological Mapping in Egypt: A GIS Approach

 

As well as receiving personal prizes, they have won each of their universities a package of 2DMove teaching licences fully maintained and supported for 3 years (value $200,000).

The Prize was introduced to reward excellence in students of structural geology and we are delighted with its continued success.
