Midland Valley's development team comprises engineers and management from a variety of relevant backgrounds, including computer science, mathematics, structural geology, physics and geo-computing. This diversity enables the team to deliver appropriate, timely technical software solutions for internal and external clients. Leading-edge software design and programming techniques are used to guarantee software quality and performance. - Bruce Hargan - Senior Software Engineer
Bruce has a broad background in geophysics and software development. His geophysical experience includes government research, mineral exploration in the western U.S., petroleum exploration in Saudi Arabia and technology development in gravity gradiometry and AVO. On the software development side he has worked on military, geologic, geophysical and reservoir engineering applications. He lives in Denver Colorado and enjoys hiking & skiing.
| - Colin Dunlop - Principal Software Engineer
Software hacker and strategist. Colin's main roles are application design and software development for the 4DMove product. His interests and expertise include authoring 3D visualisation software, which he developed previously at Cambridge Animation Systems and a spell in ETH Zurich.
| - Ewan Brock - Senior Software Engineer
Ewan is involved in our visulaiser and platform for future development 4DMove, as well as a variety of collaboration projects.
Ewan is a keen cyclist when he is not running around after his kids! | - Graham Seed - Senior Software Engineer
Graham joined Midland Valley in 2006 as a Senior Software Engineer and is based at the Glasgow headquarters. Graham's key roles are development of the 4DMove product. His expertise include finite element modelling, geometric modelling and visualisation.
Graham is married and in his spare time enjoys DIY and gardening. | - Heike Broichhausen - Senior Software Engineer
Heike has over 10 years experience in software development for the oil and gas industry. Based in Glasgow, she has joined the 4DMove development team in Midland Valley, where she will be working on the implementation of new modules.
| - Mike Krus - Senior Development Engineer
Mike joined Midland Valley in 2005 as a Senior Software Engineer. Mike now manages all the 4DMove related projects and is involved in application design and software development. His interests and expertise include software engineering project management and interactive 3D visualisation software design, which he developed previously at Trimble Inc. and during his PhD in France.
| - Norman Armstrong - Principal Software Engineer
Norman is the lead engineer for 2DMove and 3DMove, and has been with Midland Valley for over 10 years.
An avid climber and all round adventurer, you are never quite sure where in the world Norman will pop up next! | - Ryan Shackleton - Software Engineer/Research
With a background in structural geology and geomechanics, Ryan joined the development team in 2006 in an integral role in the development of 4DMove. He has an M.S. in geology from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where he studied fracturing in carbonates in the Brooks Range of Alaska. After a year with us in our Glasgow HQ developing geomechanical restoration tools in 4DRestore, Ryan is returning to the University of Masschusetts to finish his PhD where he has been using growth strata on thrust related folds to constrain 3D geomechanical restorations and fracture network evolution in the Spanish Pyrenees. Ryan continues to be a member of our team, developing 4DRestore part-time while completing his studies.
In his spare time, Ryan enjoys whitewater kayaking, mountaineering, and cycling. | - Serena Jones - Principal Geologist, Geoscience Development
Geological team leader for the 2DMove, 3DMove and 4DMove products. Serena is involved in the development strategy and planning as well as the more detailed workflow and tool specification. She coordinates the communcation of developments and software functionality within Midland Valley.
