Set up your printer. This is done through File>Printer setup. Here you can choose your printer & your paper size. You may get extra options if you click on Properties whilst in the pop up box.
Do not worry about print preview showing part of your file, if you have set up your printer options correctly you should find it prints OK.
The notes below come with the installation notes, and contain extra useful information for you
A subdirectory called windows is created in the users home directory when they first run 2DMove. This directory contains configuration files for 2DMove, including the win.ini file that contains various default settings.
Below is an explanation of the printer-related section of a win.ini file.
Ports The win.ini [ports] section lists available communication and printer ports. Under MainWin1, the LPTn keywords are mapped to UNIX commands. In this example, LPT1 and LPT2 are mapped to the print command lp. MainWin1 sends all print job output to a file. The output file is then sent to the printer.
The term %s tells the system to substitute the name of the PostScript intermediate output file. The term -dps1700 in the example refers to a UNIX printer named dps1700. LPT1 should be set to the current unix default printer.
Windows The device entry in this win.ini [windows] section defines the default printer. [windows] device=Apple LaserWriter II NT,PSCRIPT,LPT1 ... It takes the following syntax: device=outputdevicename, devicedriver, portconnection The keyword PSCRIPT is used in place of the devicedriver. MainWin1 uses The PSCRIPT keyword in win.ini to specify PostScript support under UNIX.
Devices The [devices] block is the list of printers that appears in the Print Dialog and the Printer Setup Dialog in 2DMove. In this example, Apple LaserWriter II NT=PSCRIPT,LPT1: specifies that the printer is connected to the PSCRIPT queue connected to LPT1.

Notes To print in colour you must select the colour checkbox in the properties section of either the Print or the Print Setup dialogs and in the Page Setup dialog.
In the File menu you will find Page Set-Up. Ensure you have toggled on colour under the options section of the toolbox.
If you do not have any success using the above toggle it may be hardware incompatibility. We have found that certain combinations of operating systems and printers do not allow printing in colour from 2DMove.
Ideally your files should all be in the same directory and the .cfg file should only contain the filename. If you must have the files in different places the .cfg file must contain the pathway to the relevant files, usually seismic. This is to tell 2Dmove where the seismic data is stored. The .cfg file can be edited manually. If you move the seismic, the path in the .cfg file becomes invalid & must be edited to correct it.
A Node locked (local) license A node locked license is suited to stand alone machines and single license agreements. The software can only run on the machine that the license has been installed on. A node locked license only needs the installation of a license file; no additional software is required. NOTE: Node Locked licenses are available on UNIX as evaluation licenses only; we cannot issue permanent Node Locked licenses on UNIX.
A Floating (network) license A floating network license requires the installation of separate license manager software. The license manager may be installed on a different computer to that which you run the software on. It is also possible to install the license manager on a different platform i.e.
The Solaris version of 2DMove5 can be licensed from a Windows NT/2000 Server or a Solaris server.
What information do I need to send to obtain my license key?
To ensure that Midland Valley can provide you with your license key as quickly as possible, please request your license via e-mail
and include the following details:
Name & e-mail address
Company Name and location.
Application license key required for i.e. 2DMove/3DMove
Type of license key required Node Locked / Floating Network

What information should I send if I have a problem with my license?
The most important piece of information, which you can send us, is the error message. Also let us know what version of the software you have and the platform you are trying to run it on.
If it is a problem with a network license also send us your log file. On windows this can be found at :
Yes, you can transfer your license to another license server or to another site.
To do this contact
with details of the transferral and you will be sent a license transferral form. When the license transferral form is returned we can issue you with your new license.
PLEASE NOTE: you may be charged an administration fee.
I have installed my 2DMove license but when I try to run 2DMove on Windows, it will only run in demo mode. How can I get 2DMove to recognise my license?
If your license is a local license and you have installed it in C:\Program Files\2DMove5\license\license.dat 2DMove should automatically detect the license. However if it does not you will have to point 2DMove to where the license is installed. You will also need to do this if you have a 2DMove network license.
To enable 2DMove to read the license:
Insert your 2DMove CD-ROM.
Open Explorer.
Go to the 2DMove5\Windows directory.
Start the program called Setup or Setup.exe
Follow the installation procedure until you are asked which components to install. You should unselect 2DMove and select 'Select License Manager Server'.
You will then be asked to specify the location of the license.
If you have a local license in the local path field enter the path to where you have saved the license file i.e. if you have saved the license file to the recommend location enter C:\Program Files\2DMove5.0\license\license.dat. If you have a network license the preferred method is to use the 'port@host' setting. The syntax for this is port_number@server_name, e.g
Where 1574 is the port number and staffa is your License Server's name. On the license server the port number on which the license daemon is running is shown in the license.dat file. So if the license.dat file contains the following line: SERVER staffa 0004ac25xxx 1574 …staffa is the hostname of the license server, 0004ac25xx is the host id and 1574 is the port number.
An alternative to setting the 'port@host' is to use the network path to the license file e.g.
\\Staffa\C\Program Files\MVEflex8.4a\license.dat
This requires that the drive on which the license file is stored is accessible across the network and that 2DMove users have read permission for the license file.
I have installed 2DMove5 and the MVEflexlm8.4a on UNIX, saved my license to /usr/lib/mve_flex_licenses/ but when I try to run 2DMove I get an error message saying 'No such feature exists'. How can I get 2DMove to run?
2DMove can only run if it can locate the license across the network. To do this you will need to set the MVFD_LICENSE_FILE and MVE_FLEXHOST environment variables on the workstation to point to the license file.
